Dimitrios Katsaros
Associate professor

D. Katsaros

associate professor with the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of University of Thessaly. He received a PhD in informatics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2004 under the suprvision of professor Yannis Manolopoulos. He spent a year (July 1997-June 1998) as a visiting researcher at the Department of Pure and Applied Mathematics at the University of L'Aquila, Italy. After receiving his PhD, he earned a `PYTHAGORAS' research grant (2005-2007) at the Aristotle university for conducting postdoctoral research in the synergy between social network analysis and wireless ad hoc networks.
During the spring semester of 2015, he was a visiting fellow in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Yale university, affiliated also with the Yale Institute for Network Science.
During summer of 2017 he was a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Yale university, affiliated also with the Yale Institute for Network Science.
During the spring semester of 2019, he was a visiting professor in KIOS Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence at the University of Cyprus.
During his sabbatical in the fall semester of 2022, he will be cooperating with the Department of Computer Science of Carnegie Mellon University at Doha (Qatar).
His research interests lie in the area of distributed/networked algorithms and systems, including cloud computing, wireless adhoc/sensor/vehicular networks, network science, and neural/deep learning.
